In your quest to climb the corporate ladder, take some time to climb the stairs as well for the benefit of your health.
Last week, my ex-colleague after knowing that I’ve created a successful fat loss program for busy corporate professionals came up to me and asked me the million dollar question:
“How can I get slim? How do I lose weight easily?”
I’ve known this guy for a few years and I have seen how he is also a victim of the corporate fattening trap. Office workers like you and I are almost predisposed to get fat if we don’t do something about it. You can become sedentary at work rather easily if you’re not careful. Your job probably doesn’t require a lot of activity or physical exertion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t move around some.
If fact, challenge yourself to find reasons for getting out of that chair and moving around when you can. If you ever notice the people who know how to get slim, they’re always moving.
1. Take the Stairs
If you work on the 5th floor, take the stairs every time you enter or leave the office. That’s at least two times up per day, just like working out on a stair stepper. If you work on the ground floor of your office, park farther away so you’ll get in a couple of brisk walks each day. If you dine out at lunch, frequent eateries you can reach on foot.
2. Keep Healthy Snacks Available
If your office is like most others, there are many temptations to eat some of the worst snack foods on the planet. Doughnuts, cakes, chips, and cookies are always finding their way into office kitchens. Why don’t people bring in apples, bananas, grapes, and nectarines instead?
Would you be shocked if you opened your office refrigerator and found a large platter of carrots, broccoli, and celery with a small container of ranch dip? The
quickest way to lose weight is to say goodbye to junk food and high calorie desserts. Check out some

3. Exercise at the Office
Your office may have an exercise facility for employees. You might find time to work out 3 times per week for 20 to 30 minutes. Exercise doesn’t have to be a formal gym type setting either; you can
exercise to lose tummy in your office with a few minor props or portable exercise equipment. A small pedal exerciser might be an option for an under your desk workout during the day. A walk around the building or up and down the stairs is another option.
4. An Exercise Buddy
Many people have found success in their how to get slim plan by having a buddy who is also trying to lose weight. On the days when you find yourself making excuses not to exercise or you feel tempted to indulge in a large slice of that sheet cake, your buddy can offer their support to help keep you on track and vice versa. It really does help to have someone to talk to and exercise with rather than going it all alone.
5. Drink Plenty of Water
Every doctor will tell you that drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your health. It keeps the fluids moving and rids the body of toxins. Drinking nothing but water will definitely help you lose weight. You’ve heard the phrase “drink 64 ounces of water each day.” That’s a good place to start, but a recommended water intake is half of your body weight daily. If you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water each day. In addition to many other healthy benefits,
drinking water also helps with weight loss too.
